Second day of the 25th MFF: Strong competition, meetings with Mandich and Popović
Along with a strong program in the competition, as well as short documentaries from the "In Focus" program, the second day of the Mediterranean Film Festival in Široki Brijeg was marked by a meeting with Tony Mandich and Dimitrije Popović.

Famous Croatian and Montenegrin painter and writer visited the Academy of Fine Arts in the morning and socialised with the students, while his film ''Aureole Microcosm'' was screened in the Borak cinema theatre in the evening hours. The film was inspired by the works of the Montenegrin poet and bishop Petar II Petrović Njegoš on the occasion of the 210th anniversary of his birth, offering a modern reading and interpretation of his literary works.

“The focus is not only on the mystical, religious and philosophical aspects of Njegoš’s work, but also on the phenomenon of eroticism which,is necessary for a more complete understanding of Njegoš’s creation. The film represents a symbiosis of different art forms and talents”, as Popović said before the screening.

A large number of rock 'n' roll music fans gathered in the premises of the National Library, to hear the man who was the vice president of the record company Atlantic Records for 30 years and who collaborated with the biggest pop-rock stars.
Tony Mandich had a lecture on the influence of music on film industry, sharing some of the interesting anecdotes that marked his career with the audience.

“This is my first time in Široki Brijeg, and what is interesting is that my father attended the Franciscan Classical Grammar School here in Široki Brijeg in the 1930s. A festival like this is a big deal for this city and Herzegovina and I am very happy that the organisers invited me”, Mandich said.

Senior curator and historian Dejana Drobnjak will present the Local Museum of Pljevlja from Montenegro in the National Library Široki Brijeg on Friday, October 11, and the film "The Ways of Homo sapiens", directed by Ozren Zogović, will also be screened.
The competition program is featuring “The Good Omen” directed by Alba Bresoli Alibercha from Spain and “Bangarang” directed by Giulio Mastromauro from Italy.

The same day is marked by films from the "Home Authors" program, in which the MFF is screening an emotional story "Hassan's Wars" that follows the life of the journalist Hassan Haidar Diab, directed by Robert Bubalo.

The screening of this film is following after the announcement of the best films of the 25th MFF and the award ceremony. The international jury decides on the best works at MFF in three categories – best feature documentary, best short and the 'Best Camera' award, signed by the Association of Cinematographers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Traditionally the audience decides on the third prize and awards the MFF Audience award.
