23 Mediterranean Film Festival full program
Screening of documentary films from the competition is opening the 23rdedition of the Mediterranean Film Festival in Široki Brijeg. Croatian film ‘Babajanja’ by Ante Zlatko Stolica and ‘Summer Nights’ directed by Ohad Milstein from Israel are going to be screened after the Festival opening ceremony.

One of the most important film events in B&H and the region is going to screen 20 documentaries in the competition program. Festival selector Zdravko Mustać has selected ten films in the short film category - up to 30 minutes, and ten films in the category of feature documentaries – more than 30 minutes.

In cooperation with Film Centre Sarajevo, the legal successor of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian cinematography archives, the MFF will screen seven films on the second day of the festival. These are the masterpieces of B&H cinematography, which were the audience and jury favourites at festivals around the world at the time they were created.

Along with the competition program the second day is marked by the screening of the film ‘Sing me a Song’ directed by Miran Zupanič. This is a story of Slovenian cult folk rock musician Vlado Kreslin, whose legendary status is the result of his personal charisma and suggestive musical expression, unlike the self-promotion that is so popular today. The music festival day is going to be completed by the promotion of the autobiography of the legendary musician Željko Bebek ‘U inat svima’, whose writer is Robert Bubalo.

In addition to the strong documentary program in competition, the ‘In Focus’ program brings the best cinematography works from the Mediterranean countries in the previous year. Ten films will be screened that have already marked the film year or their time is yet to come.

The program also includes the documentary 'Princess' directed by Ed Perkins - the story of Princess Diana is told exclusively through contemporary archival footage, thus creating a bold and impressive story about her life and death.

The visitors of the 23 MFF are also watching the fiction film ‘Savages’ by Dario Lonjak about three Croatia national football team supporters who decided on robbery in order to get money for the trip to the World Cup Final in Moscow. Fleeing the police, they cross the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina and wander into a terrorist camp in the woods. Maja Jurić, Branko Janković, Alen Liverić, Dejan Aćimović, Borko Perić star in the film.

The family hit 'How I Learned to Fly' and animated film 'Around the World in 80 Days' are screening in the morning program schedule within the youngest festival program MFF Fora.

The international jury decides on the best works at MFF in two categories – best feature documentary and best short. Besides the six members of the jury that will decide on the winners of the 23 Mediterranean Film Festival on October 15 at 8 pm and award the MFF Grand Prix and the second prize MFF Best Short, the audience decides on the third prize and awards the MFF Audience award.

The films from the MFF workshop are going to be screened at the closing ceremony, which has been filmed in Široki Brijeg in the past few weeks by high school students attending these workshops together with their colleagues, young filmmakers from America and all this mentored by Lucy Eagleson.

After the ceremony of awarding the best documentaries of the 23 MFF the festival visitors have the opportunity to enjoy the cinematic odyssey exploring David Bowie's creative, spiritual and musical journey in – the film ‘Moonage Daydream’.

See you at the 23 MFF!
