Ten shorts 'In Focus' of the 23th Mediterranean Film Festival
The 'In Focus' program of this year's Mediterranean Film Festival in Široki Brijeg brings us some of the best recent creations of the Mediterranean cinema. Ten short documentary films selected by the festival selector Zdravko Mustać are going to be screened in this off program of the MFF.
From more emotional than narrative discourse in the Spanish film 'Port', to the story of a woman who, after 19 years of struggle, discovers that she is suffering from breast cancer for the third time, to a trip with the revolutionary Balkan artist Božo Vrećo, the 'In Focus' program brings us a showcase of stories, some of which have already visited prestigious film festivals around the world.
In two festival days this program includes the documentary ‘Port’ directed by Remedios Malvárez, 'Only Three Months Ahead' by Hannah Himan Pessah from Israel, and 'Split' directed by Renata Poljak. Apart from this film from neighbouring Croatia we are also watching a story about the destructive earthquake ‘Last Days of the Year’ directed by Marko Bičanić and ‘Martin Torpedo’ by Toni Jelenić.
We are also watching ‘Outtakes’ directed by Spanish duo Concha Barquero, Alejandro Alvarado, ‘This is not my Mom’ by Javier Loarte and awarded documentary ‘Maldita, a Love Song to Sarajevo’ by Amaia Remirez and Raúl de la Fuente Calle.
We are going to see an interesting story about social and environmental injustice in Beirut in the film 'This Haunting Memory that is not Mine' directed by Panos Aprahamian, as well as the fictitious eco-documentary from the future 'Bokahontas' directed by Jana Radan from Serbia and Montenegro.
Films from this selection are not competing for awards.
