Explosion of Bare's emotions at MFF
Film full of thoughts, emotions and rock ’n’ roll, as critics describe the documentary film ‘Bare’, was screened in the Open air cinema of the Mediterranean Film Festival in the ‘Home authors’ programme.

It was directed Renato Tonković, Mario Vukadin and Robert Bubalo, and interesting fact is that it was screened at DORF in Vinkovci, Goran Bare’s birth town, at the same time.

Before the premiere Bubalo mentioned that this was the second rock documentary after ‘Lost Button’. He also added that the audience would see Majke’s sincere front man.

Zdenko Franjić, the founder of discography label Slušaj najglasnije, who discovered Bare’s band, had a short introduction into film-rock evening.

“According to Bare, his best works were published under this label”, Franjić said, who enabled some other musicians, besides Bare, to come to the wider audiences.

Film ‘People that Planted Trees’, directed by Zdenko Jurilj and written by Josip Mlakić, was screened on the third festival day within the ‘Home authors’ programme.

Films from the official competition programme ‘Born in Gambia’ directed by Naxto Leuz Fernandez, Israeli film ‘Cause of Death’ directed by Ramy A. Katz, ‘Matter of Time’ directed by Muhamed Abdul-Hakim from Egypt and ‘Stone Speakers’ directed by Igor Drljača were screened in Borak cinema.   Competition programme also presented Croatian film ‘Meat’ directed by Elvis Lenić and ‘iIsland’ directed by Miha Čelar. The last films from the competition for this evening were Israeli documentary ‘My Father’s Son’ directed by Hilel Rate and ‘Cherry Days’ directed by Mohamad and Ahmad from Syria.

This year’s festival features eight film programmes that will screen 45 films. MFF offers several world premieres, a couple of festival premiers and some films are screened for the first time in B&H.

The international jury decides on the best works at MFF in two categories – best feature documentary and best short. Besides the six members of the jury that will decide on the winners of the 20th Mediterranean Film Festival and award the Grand Prix MFF Projector sponsored by Podravka and second prize Best Short MFF Projector, the audience traditionally decides on the third prize and awards the MFF Audience award sponsored by HT Eronet.

The film from the MFF workshop will be screened at the closing ceremony, which has been filmed in Široki Brijeg in recent weeks by high school students attending these workshops together with their colleagues, young filmmakers from America and all this mentored by Lucy Eagleson.

This year's Mediterranean Film Festival, after the awards ceremony, will be closed by Quentin Tarantino's feature film, 'Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood'.
