Youth energy at the beginning of the 17th Mediterranean Film Festival
17 Mediterranean Film Festival was opened on Wednesday, 24 August, in full cinema theatre Borak. The short feature film ‘On Paper’ was screened at the opening ceremony. The film was created by high school students, attendees of MFF Workshops together with their colleagues from the USA, in the past few weeks in Široki Brijeg, under the leadership of Lucy Eagleson and Tyler Gunderson.

The mayor of Široki Brijeg Miro Kraljević officially opened the festival, and Zora Dujmović, Federal minister of culture and sports and Milan Bandić, the mayor of Zagreb, also addresses to the audience.

The first day of MFF was marked by screenings of films by ‘Home Authors’, so the films ‘Petra’s Choice’ by Ivan Čolak, ‘Garage Rockin Craze’ by Mario Ćužić and ‘A Second Family’ by Zdenko Jurilj were on program from 5 p.m.. The competition program of this year’s Festival, which has 22 documentaries, was opened by Croatian film ‘Tourism’, directed by Tonći Gćina. The audience also had the opportunity to see one more film from the feature documentary competition, the Italian film ‘Napolislam’, directed by Ernesto Pagano.

The first day of the 17th MFF was closed by the film ‘Chuck Norris vs. Communism’, which was screened within the ‘HBO Adria’ program, in the open air cinema in the centre of Široki Brijeg.

Besides great number of films, the thing that this festival is known for are good company and entertainment at the festival square in the town centre and Hotel Park, which lasted till the early morning hours.
