The best of MFF at Dokukino KIC in Zagreb
After a successful documentary year, cinema Dokukino KIC enters the year 2016 with four premiere titles screened at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Široki Brijeg, with the cooperation of which it brings an entire week of the best MFF docs. From 21 to 24 January the audience will have the chance to enjoy the film One out of Three (S. Ben Ari, Israel, 2014), a story about the family that pushed the boundaries of parenthood and forced many people to question the roles given to us by the traditional society. This film won the Grand Prix award at the last year’s Mediterranean Film Festival, and before the screening you can see a short documentary Daphne or the Lovely specimen (S. Laudenbach, S. Derosne, France, 2014). This fifteen minute film, awarded by numerous prizes, makes a portrait of a dishonorable and sensitive woman, her body and soul, by combining animation and constant shooting.
As the introduction to the Week of Documentaries from Mediterranean Film Festival, from January 14 in Dokukino KIC, you can watch music documentary Family Affair (A.
Aristomenopoulou, Grčka, 2015). The word is about exceptionally dynamic family story whose members have music running in their veins, and notes written in their genes. Three generations preserve and transfer the living tradition of Cretan music, constantly performing throughout the world. From the legendary Antonis Xylouris, known as Psarantonis, through his son to three grandchildren.
The film Wild Years (V. Durall, Spain, Ethiopia, 2013) is also in the program. This is a touching illustration of the life of three poor boys who call the streets of Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa their home, and who become family to each other by growing up together.
