We are presenting the full program of the 15th Mediterranean Film Festival
One of the most important events related to film in B&H and the region – the Mediterranean Film Festival shall take place from August 27th to 30th in Široki Brijeg. Besides the powerful documentary program, which the Mediterranean Film Festival has the stress on, we have also prepared the great film creations for the fans of home production and films from the region. We have also the big names awarded with Oscar, world premieres, as well as the music documentary program, which is a kind of our film song dedicated to these 15 years behind us.
Let’s start from the beginning. On Wednesday, 27th of August, in the off program we are screening the ‘Films by Home Authors’, documentaries ‘Curiosity’ by Stjepan Skoko and ‘Hospital Incognito’ by Zdenko Jurilj, who have proved that our small film region is active. The ceremony of opening of the 15th MFF will have the world premiere of the documentary film ‘Lost Button’, directed by Renato Tonković, Marijo Vukadin and Robert Bubalo. Besides our festival anniversary, this film is also celebrating another one – 40 years since the cult rock band ‘Bijelo dugme’ was established.
Later in the evening of the first festival day we also start with the official competition program – the documentary films from the Mediterranean countries. Among the 300 films that applied, the festival selector Damir Čučić selected 22 films, 11 in the category of short film – to 30 minutes and 11 feature length documentaries – over 30 minutes.
The music documentaries that we shall screen in cooperation with DORF, a unique regional festival of music documentary film from the friend town of Vinkovci, give the festival a celebration atmosphere.
In the program of special screenings MFF presents short documentary ‘Autofocus’ by Boris Poljak and feature film by Kristijan Milić ‘Number 55’, awarded war drama based upon true events, starring Goran Bogdan, Marko Cindrić, Slaven Knezović…
International jury divided in two categories – for feature length and short film, will decide on the best ones. Besides the six-member jury that will choose the winners of the 15th Mediterranean Film Festival on the 30th of August and award them with Grand Prix MFF projector and the second award in the cinema hall Borak, the third prize is awarded by the voices of the audience. The end of the Festival will be marked with another music creation – the closing film of the 15th Mediterranean Film Festival will be the Oscar awarded documentary – ‘Searching for the Sugarman’.
Essential parts of the Mediterranean festival, besides the relaxed atmosphere and good entertainment, are also the movie quizzes, workshops, prizes and parties that make this festival unavoidable cultural destination of the regional scene. Welcome to the 15th MFF.
