Beginners Workshop
Lucy Eagleson: Filmmaker and Media Educator

This is a workshop for high school students who are new to MFF School. Through interactive presentations and special assignments, students will learn the basics of filmmaking.
Wednesday, August 20, 9am-1pm:  Stories. Structure.   Character: Visual storytelling from still image to motion   picture.
Thursday, August 21, 9am- 1pm: From the page, to the screen. How we take good writing and make great movies!

Intermediate Workshop

Students will write a short film that will  be shot and produced during the workshop. They will explore the following subjects at an intermediate level: directing, producing, cinematography, sound,production design,   picture editing, and sound editing. Their film will be screened at the festival closing ceremony on Saturday evening.

Monday August, 25
Writing room. Students will work    through their script with the instructors. They will select and discuss their roles on the film. These roles will include acting, directing, producing, cinematography, sound recording, and production design.

Tuesday, August 26
Pre-production. Students will rehearse performances on location and shoot photo story boards that will guide their discussion on overhead diagrams, shot lists, and elements of pre-production.

Wednesday, August 27 and Thursday, August 28
Students will shoot their film on location!

Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30 Post-Production. Students will edit the film and then work on sound design. They will also learn the basics of Color Correction.

Saturday, August 30
Students will walk the red carpet and screen their film at MFF 15.
