Everything is ready for the 14th Mediterranean Film Festival opening ceremony
The press conference was held today in Široki Brijeg on the occasion of the opening of the 14th Mediterranean Film Festival – festival of documentary film that will last from August 26th to 31st.

The guests of the press conference spoke about the festival, the official competition part of the program, films from the off program, workshops and number of other festival events and these were: Tomislav Topić, director of the festival, Robert Bubalo, producer of the festival, Vanja Gavran, representative of HT Eronet, which is the general sponsor, Zdenko Jurilj, journalist and film director, Lucy Eagleson, director, producer from San Diego and MFF workshop manager for amateurs and Midge Costin, sound editor at Hollywood movies for the past 20 years and MFF workshop manager for professionals.

“In terms of production, this festival doesn’t differ much from the past edition. As the films are concerned I can say that this is the best Festival until now in terms of quality. This year we received 240 film applications, out of which we chose 9 feature length documentaries and 13 short films for the competition program. In cooperation with the Italian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina we managed to show the retrospective of one of the greatest filmmakers of the 20th century, Federico Fellini”, said the director of the Mediterranean Film Festival Tomislav Topić.

“It’s our honour to be with the Mediterranean Film Festival. I can say that this is the biggest cultural event in Herzegovina. It’s widely known that HT Eronet supports art of film in Bosnia and Herzegovina and, besides this festival, we were general sponsors of the Sarajevo Film Festival and International Neum Animated Film Festival – NAFF. We’re especially glad that MFF supports local films and film workers and trying to present home filmmaking in the world”, said Vanja Gavran on the behalf of HT Eronet, general sponsor of MFF.

The producer of the festival Robert Bubalo also addressed to the present media representatives. “We’ve started this year’s MFF with the greatest film master at the Mediterranean Federico Fellini, and we’ll end it with successful adaptation of the theatre comedy ‘Cowboys’. This shows that we have a variety of programs this year too, and that there’s very entertaining, various and quality film programs within six festival days. The power of this year’s program is in the fact that in five programs we’ll screen 35 films that were chosen among hundreds of films. This shows how hard it is to enter MFF. That’s how we guarantee top quality film program and a lot of fun.”

At this year’s MFF that started on Monday the 26th of August with the retrospective of Federico Fellini, there will be 22 documentary films screened in the official program, while the following will be screened in the program of home authors: “In quest of father’s grave” by father Pavle Crnjac, “Patient” by Zdenko Jurilj and film “Tsunami attack (The power of Rock ‘n’ Roll)”, by Mario Ćužić. The film “A stranger” directed by Bobo Jelčić will be screened in the category of feature film, while on Saturday 31st of August at the official closing of the festival,  there will be B&H premiere of the film “Cowboys” directed by Tomislav Mršić.
