13th Mediterranean Film Festival shall take place from August 20th to 25th in Široki Brijeg. It’s going to be a week of short, full-length, American, film in creation, feature and, what’s most important – documentary film, located in one place – cinema “Borak”.

Let's start at the beginning. The first two festival days are marked by the fore-program “American Documentary Showcase”, within which 5 films shall be screened in the cooperation with the American Embassy in B&H. We’re talking about the films made in the past three years and which won awards at big world’s festivals. Besides the “American” program, we’ve created the program “Far away from home”, where we’ll have the premiere of the film “Rock the Quake”. We have to say for the first day that we’ll screen the film which opened the last year’s festival again, because of the great interest. The word is about the documentary made by Zdenko Jurilj, “3 Days”.

The competition program is the big treat, and we’ll begin the third day of the Festival with that. The selector Damir Čučić, this year’s winner of the Feature film festival in Pula, chose 23 films from 10 Mediterranean countries, among the 250 films that applied for the competition. The word is about the excellent films, some of which have already won awards at big festivals, but also about the films which will have their premiere with this screening. The three-member jury shall decide on the films’ destiny: Jovan Marjanović, Zdenko Jurilj and the last year’s winner, Israeli journalist and director Doron Tsabari. The jury awards the MFF projector Grand Prix – Jack Daniels and the second prize, while the audience decides on the third projector prize.

We’ll prove that we care for everybody to find their part of the Festival by the program “Shorts – coming back home”, where the accent is on the actor, more precisely the actors from Široki Brijeg. Vinko Kraljević, Goran Bogdan, Petar Leventić and Slaven Knezović will present their art of acting in ten short films. The films that we chose haven’t been seen on the TV programs, nor are available in sale, they have a festival life and this is a kind of their short coming back home.

Mediterranean Film Festival didn’t neglect the film in creation. We’ll screen the “Ring of life”, produced by Kadar, which is the film in creation, directed by Zdenko Jurilj. We’ll offer the educational film workshops for those who don’t want to be just the observers. The visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in film quizzes, prize games, as well as the first independent exhibition of paintings “Global siliconisation” by Tomislav Zovko.

The feature film by Vlatka Vorkapić “Sonja and the Bull” will mark the film finals of this year’s Mediterranean Film Festival. It was presented at this year’s festival in Pula. This is the film that has imposed as the potential hit film and the screening in cinema “Borak” will be its B&H premiere. The unofficial stamp of the closing will be the last in the line of the festival parties ahead of us. This will be the performance of the band “Dječaci” from Split within the Jagger Music night.

We have a week ahead of us worth of attention of the directors from the world and the region, film workers and finally the lovers of good films. This is the week that, already traditionally, through a kind of inventory of motion picture brings the good and the different and puts it all at one place.
