World hit Young@Heart closes MFF
At the closing of MFF all fans of good film and music will see the
master peace of documentarism “Young at heart”. The film speaks about
mixed choir from Northampton (state of Massachusetts) that assembles 25
people aged 70 to 90 years, and whose repertoire consists of punk and
rock standards ranging from Sonic Youth, over Clash and Ramones to
Coldplay and Jimmy Hendrix.
It is worth mentioning that this film has one of the most impressing
openings ever seen in movie industry. From semi-darkness and in
contra-light, the silhouette of a performer, who is hopping (or better
to say limps?), is getting through towards the microphone with the
sounds of The Clash’s guitar riff. Refrain itself and finally
brightened stage reveal us 92 year old granny who daringly sings
“Should I Stay Or Should I Go?”
This is one of the rare films that will really make you feel excellent.
Full of spirit, hilarious humor and exposed human destinies it is an
ode to punkers and rockers whose songs, among others, inspired some
people to find in them a reason to live, in the true meaning of the
word. The audience at festivals in Los Angeles, 2007., and in Atlanta
this year, already showed its sympathy to “Young at heart”. Film is in
the program on Saturday, September 6th at 21 hours.
