MFF Took a Walk on Tobacco Trails
“We saw misery then and we are seeing it now”, said one of the people from the documentary ‘Tobacco Trails’ who had paved those trails, directed by Mirko Pivčević, which was screened within the Off programme of the Mediterranean Film Festival.

“There was misery in everything, as it is today. There were other troubles that are not seen in the film”, said the protagonists of the documentary.Pivčević said that they tried to show how our people survived by producing tobacco."The mountains, valleys, lakes and roads of central Bosnia and Herzegovina, where this documentary takes place, are so crude and beautiful that you get the inspiration for filming in the very beginning", said Pivčević to the press, pointing that he exceptionally appreciates Josip Mlakić’s work, the scriptwriter of this documentary, and that it was such a great pleasure to work with him.

‘Tobacco Trails’ was made in coproduction of Scena, Olimp and Kadar production companies.The film is about tobacco people, tobacco smugglers from Herzegovina and Central Bosnia. Besides the testimonies of the living whiteness, the film also contains fiction scenes filmed at Raduša, Vran, Čvrsnica and Makljen mountains.B

esides Pivčević’s film, within the ‘Home Authors’ programme there was the screening of the film ‘Comic Sans’ directed by Nevio Marasović, that is about the relationship between the father and the son. The main character is also not proud of his relationship with his ex-girlfriends, and a sudden trip to an island will force the father and the son to question their relationship, with plenty of humorous and dramatic situations.

Due to rain, the program in the competition scheduled for Friday will be screened on Saturday, at 13:00 in the Town Library, and due to the great interest of the audience, the film 'Sisters' directed by Zdenko Jurilj will be screened at 16:00 in Borak Cinema. 

The competition programme started at 5 p.m. with documentaries from Israel, ‘The Dream Deli’, directed by Tomer Lahmy, Alon Markovitz i Avner Azulay and 'In Her Footsteps' directed by Rana Abu Fraiha.Films ’90 Seconds in North Korea’ directed by Ranko Pauković and ‘The Other Side of Everything’, Egyptian film ‘The Exile’ directed by Medhat Maged and ‘Shootball’ by Felix Colomer from Spain, Spanish film ‘La Rambla that Night’ directed by Isaac R. Folgarolas and  Tànit Fernández and 'Before My Feet Touch the Ground' directed by Daphni Leef from Israel were screened within the competition programme.

The third day of the Festival started with the programme MFF Fora with the screening of the adventurous comedy ‘Coco’, which has broken all the rating records in Mexico.

The Festival visitors at the Festival square in the centre of Široki Brijeg enjoyed in the music of the band Zizili.
